Foster Carer Training
Our vision is to be the leading trauma-informed organisation which fosters respect, belonging, and acceptance. Recognising the harmful impact of trauma on the health and well-being of children, families, and communities, our commitment is to create safe, inclusive environments to build resilience and promote healing and growth.
Initial Post-Approval Training
In the 12 months following approval, you will complete post-approval training, which consists of seven core training modules:
Safer caring
Valuing diversity and promoting equality
Recording
Child protection
Promoting positive behaviour
Teamwork, communication and access
Attachment
On-going Training
We offer a range of on-going training to help you enhance existing skills and develop new ones throughout your fostering career.
Courses take place at regular intervals at a location near you. Topics include:
Identity and self-esteem
First Aid
Health and safety
Life story work
Internet safety
Responding to sexually harmful behaviour
Advanced attachment
Preparing for leaving care
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Families (TCIF)

Are you currently with another foster care provider and would like some information about transferring to Fostering First Ireland?
Transfer to FFI
Fostering allowances for all foster carers are set by the Minister for Children. They represent the maximum that can be paid by us or other independent fostering agencies.
